Systems and common faults

Maintenance tests the standby supply, charging voltage, zones, tampers, external sounder and set/unset operation, then flags ageing equipment before it causes a call-out.

We work with Scantronic 9651, 9751, 9800 and legacy Cooper or i-on family equipment. Typical call-outs include:

  • Age-related battery and charging faults
  • Intermittent zone or bell tamper events
  • Keypad, communicator and obsolete device problems

Parts, apps and future support

Routine consumables and standard detectors are usually available. Model-specific keypads, expanders and boards for older Scantronic panels may be limited and are assessed before remedial work.

Legacy Scantronic systems are usually local-only; selected newer i-on equipment may support SecureConnect.

Repair or modernise?

Maintenance can extend the life of a sound legacy system, but repeated faults or unavailable proprietary parts are a clear signal to plan a controlled upgrade.

Scantronic Maintenance FAQs

Which Scantronic panels do you work with?

We support Scantronic 9651, 9751, 9800 and legacy Cooper or i-on family equipment. Send a photo of the keypad or panel label if you are unsure which model is installed.

What do common Scantronic fault messages mean?

Messages can point to age-related battery and charging faults, intermittent zone or bell tamper events, keypad, communicator and obsolete device problems. The displayed warning is a starting point; the affected circuit, device and event history still need testing.

What is checked during Scantronic maintenance?

Maintenance tests the standby supply, charging voltage, zones, tampers, external sounder and set/unset operation, then flags ageing equipment before it causes a call-out. Maintenance can extend the life of a sound legacy system, but repeated faults or unavailable proprietary parts are a clear signal to plan a controlled upgrade.

Why is regular alarm maintenance important?

Regular maintenance ensures your alarm system functions correctly, minimizing the risk of false alarms and ensuring maximum security. It also helps identify and resolve potential issues before they become serious.

What is included in an alarm service?

Checking power supplies and battery performance.

Testing all sensors, detectors, and remote fobs.

Inspecting the control panel and resetting any issues.

Providing a detailed Engineer Activity Report.

How often should I get my alarm system serviced?

It is recommended to have your alarm system serviced at least once a year to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

What happens if I don’t service my alarm system?

Without regular maintenance, your alarm system might become prone to faults, false alarms, or fail to function during an actual emergency, putting your security at risk.

Can I service my alarm system myself?

While basic checks like battery replacement can be done by users, professional servicing ensures that all components, including control units and sensors, are thoroughly checked and tested.

Does the alarm service include replacement parts?

Maintenance services include testing and inspecting components. Replacement parts or additional repairs may incur extra charges and are not included by default.

Do you offer a discount for paying in advance?

Yes! If you pay in advance, the first hour of service is only £100 instead of the standard rate of £120. Each additional hour is £75.

When will my appointment be confirmed?

Your appointment date and time will be agreed with you after we receive your order. Placing an order or making a payment does not reserve a specific slot. For cash orders, payment is due at the visit.

What if we cannot agree a suitable appointment?

If we cannot agree a suitable appointment before the visit, we will refund any booking payment in full.
